Plato’s Apology is a well-constructed argument, despite Socrates’ claim to be improvising his way along, as Truth naturally moves him. Paragraph two indicates the care with which he will lay out his case. Tell them what you’re going to say before you say it, Socrates:

And first, I have to reply to the older charges and to my first accusers, and then I will go on to the later ones.
