Cape Fear: a poem
Seaside regrets. “I knew there was an answer, but I slept through sunrise.”
In this character poem I imagined a guy sagging under the heaviness of life, a failed romance, and other regrets. It was assembled in 2020 during the first wave of the pandemic, and only later did I realize that its mood paralleled some of what I was feeling back then. The invention phase didn’t follow any outline or script. I simply tried to follow a trail of images and shaped it as I went along. I hope you connect to something in it like I did.
